HIGHLAND BREWING’S NEW ROOFTOP BAR!
This past weekend Highland Brewing unveiled it’s brand new rooftop bar!! I was lucky enough to be invited to attend one night earlier than most people by attending the Asheville Convention and Visitor’s Bureau official ribbon cutting ceremony event Thursday night 5/26/16.
The Asheville Convention and Visitor’s Bureau plays an important role in local Asheville growth by utilizing taxes paid by visitors to the Asheville area (which bring 1.7 billion dollars annually) to further support local businesses and growth in Beer City. One such grant was used to help Highland Brewing build this new Rooftop Bar. And on a personal note I was thrilled to see the army of solar panels installed to help reduce the energy footprint of the brewery itself!

Highland Brewing has been a long-standing community member here in Beer City and has been creating tasty brews since 1994. It was founded by Oscar Wong, pictured here.
The mantle passed last year to his daughter Leah Wong Ashburn who gave a heartfelt speech about our beloved area and the work of the Asheville CVB and their important grants before cutting the ribbon and kicking off a new era for Highland Brewing.
That is me taking in the
Asheville sunset at the event : )
My favorite beer of the night was Highland’s Black Mocha Stout.
Chocolatey and rich, and extremely tasty and smooth on tap, this beer is like a Guinness on steroids (if steroids somehow made you more flavorful and satisfying.)
